Our Services Include
Wireless Printing. Print from your own laptop or mobile device to our Southworth Library printer. Pay at the Circulation Desk and receive your prints – 15 cents per page – single sided 8 1/2 x 11 black & white ink only.
Fax Service Available. Outgoing and Incoming Faxes – $1.00 per page.
Free WiFi. Access the Internet using our free WiFi. No password required. On the Adult level, choose the WiFi network called Southworth Library Upstairs Back. On the Childen’s level, choose the network called Dartmouth Public Libraries. We have multiple tables with built in plug and USB outlets throughout the library for you to plug in your own devices.
Use the Computers. The library has computers on the adult/young adult and children’s level. The children’s level computers are for use only by children or children accompanied by an adult. With a SAILS library card, computers may be used for up to 2 hours per day. Guest passes good for 30 minutes may be issued to patrons without a library card by showing a photo id. Please fill out a library card application if you live locally and wish to use the computers regularly.
Printing from the computers costs 15 cents per page – print jobs are released at the Circulation Desk once paid for. Use the computers to search for books in the library network’s online catalog, use the Internet, or software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The library sells flash drives for $5.25 and ear buds for $2.00.
Photocopies. There are two coin-operated photocopiers, one on each level of the library. Copies cost .15 per page. Takes dollar bills and coins. 8 1/2 x 11 and 8 1/2 x 14 black and white copies. Reduces and Enlarges.
Book a Meeting Room. The Elsie Haskell Auditorium is available for nonprofit groups to meet. There is also a smaller meeting room available on the lower level.
Self-Service Holds Pickup and 1 Self-Checkout Station. On the main level of Southworth, pick up your own holds and check your own materials out at the self-checkout station near the Circulation Desk.
Electric Typewriter. Smith Corona with a built-in correction tape located in the Reference Area. Please bring your own paper.
Optelec Magnifier. A remarkable device that can magnify any kind of text. Books, magazines, envelopes, can all be enlarged to a size that works for your vision. It is located in the Reference Area. The Optelec ClearView was a gift to the Library in memory of Jens Wilhelmsen.
Microfilm Reader. Located in storage, this is a film reader, but does not print. Please speak to the staff, if you require copies.
Play Area and Puppet Theater. Located in the Children’s Storytime Room on the Lower Level.
