Find Articles and More in Statewide Research Databases
Our library, through the SAILS network, the Massachusetts Regional Library System, and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, subscribes to online databases that cover a lot of ground: Indexes to magazine & journal articles, many in full text with graphics; Biographies of the famous and not-so-famous; Company profiles and financial information; and newspapers from New England and the USA, most in full text. Click here to use the databases. They include full-text magazine, scholarly journals and e-reference books covering all subjects, as well as The New York Times.
Encyclopaedia Britannica Online
Our state database subscriptions include access to Encyclopaedia Britannica for all your homework and research needs. To use the general public library edition, click here. Or, try the Britannica Online School Edition, which has separate elementary, middle and high school levels, and includes a world atlas, timelines, country comparisons, and many other features.
Free computer classes on various topics are held at Southworth Library on Thursday afternoons at 2:30 pm. Classes feature hands-on instruction on laptop computers.
