  • Online Classes through Universal Class – Online Continuing Education and Atomic Training – a web based training resource that offers thousands of short video tutorials on more than 500 of today’s most popular software applications for both PCs and Macs.
  • Individual Sessions
    You can also book one-on-one sessions for computer help at Southworth Library not covered in our classes. Bring in your own laptop or receive assistance on one of our public computers in the library. Request an appointment at the Southworth Library Reference Desk.

 

Free Computer Classes – Southworth Library – Thursdays at 2:30 pm.
Each class is a one-time complete course and covers basic skills. Register at the Information Desk or call 508-999-0726 x377. Class size is limited. Advance registration is required.

Class Topics

Computer Basics Part 1
Hands-on instruction for the first-time computer user. Part 1 introduces computer hardware and an in-depth tutorial on how to use the mouse. This class is a one-time, 1 1/2 hour course.

Computer Basics Part 2
Learn the basic keyboard layout: letters, numbers, symbols, how to delete and insert. Basic Windows Operating System elements: the start menu, taskbar, desktop and moving between open applications. This class is a onetime, 1 1/2 hour course.

Internet Basics
Hands-on instruction for users new to the Internet. Participants should be comfortable with using a mouse and keyboard before taking this class. Learn about Internet browsers, website addresses, search engines, and links on a website page. This class is a onetime, 1 1/2 hour course.

Email Basics
Learn about different email providers, email security and a demonstration of how to compose, send, reply and forward messages with Yahoo email. Participants must be familiar with the Internet or have taken the Internet Basics class. This class is a onetime, 1 1/2 hour course.
